Art Social Business:

A business model that helps the environment and its people. Salvaging plastic into bracelets generates income for artisans, family, and community.

The Concept

We've created a nonprofit micro-business: you purchase from artisans at fair trade prices which they set and then share that culture and artwork with family and friends. We use 100% of the proceeds to purchase more artwork, providing income generation opportunities to artisans. We cut out the middle-man (actually, we're a middle-man who takes 0%)!

By using a business model, we can achieve a sustainable cycle that opens up international markets for artisans to engage in.

This endeavor is entirely nonprofit, with 0% for administration fees, to reserve 100% for artisan income generation and the funding of Bright Ideas Grants.

Environmental Feature: PVC Bracelets

To make our featured product, the PVC Bracelet, artisans take used PVC pipe, which has been stripped from the ground and is destined for the landfill, and reuse it to make bracelets. Innovative, unique and environmentally friendly, but most importantly, the bracelets are stunning. Each piece is hand-carved, and gets its coloring from the natural organic compounds that form on the inside of PVC pipes after years of transporting water. So, each bracelet is unlike any other.

See for Yourself

This is a project we funded before The BIG Competition, but it represents what we seek and value in a project and is a testiment to our dedication to funding amazing ideas.
